True Confession

Lately i've been enamored with two inanimate objects. Both are tempting me to purchase them. Typically I'm not materialistic enough to be tempted, but lately I can't help but dream about a MacBook laptop and a Honda Fit.

So these are not small items and they do not have small price tags. I did get a nice tax refund so they aren't out of the question. But it seems excessive and like its a big decision. It would also be hard to spend that much money on myself. Why is that?

So does anyone have advice? Should I just do it?

cherry blossom girl

Last friday my adorable niece was born. Its pretty exciting to have a little baby in the family again. She is so tiny and perfect. Her name is Katelyn and she will be called Kate. The flip side is that my nephew Jonathan has an ear infection and is completely miserable.

I spent yesterday afternoon/evening with them trying to help out. All Jonathan wanted to do was sit on daddy's lap. He would sorta smile when I rubbed his feet, but i couldn't get him to smile. It was heart breaking to see him so uncomfortable. I went back out tonight after work and he seemed a bit better, but he was still miserable.

Work is very busy and it seems like there is an exponential amount of stuff to do and little time to complete it. I know things will work out and the important things will get done. It just a matter of how we get through this crazy time.

Biblestudy is going well. Its been nice to have the projector but there are so many poles in the fellowship hall, its hard to come up with a good seating arrangement. We are studying Beth Moore's "A Heart Like His" which focuses on David. In this week's video she told us that the enemy (devil) has a will for our lives just like God does. Its a pretty weird thought. When I think about what my life would be like if I was not a believer and was following the enemy's will for my life it's like an alternate universe. Like its from a Star Trek plot. The scary part is that its so easy to lose our way. It happens in such gradual steps that you might not even realize its happening until you are really far away from God's will.

here it goes again

Well its been forever and a day since I've written. Life has been busy, but not too busy. I'm getting psyched about becoming an aunt again. It will happen on March 2nd, which isn't very far away. Yipee!

I should get my tax refund later this week, so the big question is do I consider it bonus money and do something frivolous or save it for an emergency? Hmmm, its not really bonus money since I earned it in the first place. But it might be fun to do something unexpected. I'll have to ponder that one a little bit more.

Lent begins tomorrow. I think it was two years ago that I gave up coffee for Lent. I don't think I'll be giving anything up this year. I did find it a meaningful experience, but not something i need to repeat. Maybe I'll get inspired by the Ash Wednesday service and think of something to give up or take on.

poor lappy, poor poor lappy

Tuesday I had the experience that all computer users fear. Lappy's hard drive failed. It will be known in the future as Black Tuesday. Fortunately it is only four months old and still under warranty. The second fortunate thing is that we were able to recover most of the data and I had done a backup on Sept 15th. So with minimal pain I will be backup and computing. In fact tonight I'm using lappy with the new hard drive. It's just not all configured the way I like it.

So please friends and family learn from my experience. Hard drive failures are a matter of when not if. Please, please, please backup your important files, pictures, and music. Anything that you would be sad or upset if it were gone in a moments notice.

Ok, lecture is over. :)

cleveland rocks, harder

Yesterday at 5:00 est, Courtney and I headed west to Cleveland. Our trip was uneventful although the freakin cold weather should be noted. We were both pretty tired from late nights, but with just one bottle of Vault
Courtney was good to drive from Breezewood to Cleveland. We walked into Adam and Bryan's new apartment at 12:01am. After a tour and Courtney removing her watch, we ate some cereal and laughed a lot.

They have a beautiful Sony Bravia LCD tv and I totally want one.

Today's agenda is shopping! Cause you can't go to cleveland without shopping, everyone knows that. :)

girls night out!!!

It was a long/short crazy day at work. So it was really cool to hangout with the girls at Calhouns tonight. Not much else to say about it, just that girl friends rock and are an absolute necessity. :)

here it goes again

Tonight was the first night of our 10 week beth moore bible study. We have a large group which is really exciting. I think we got off to a really good start. we've got a great group of women who are excited to be on this journey.

I've got a busy week with activities in the evening and preparing to be gone next week. It will all be worth it when I'm lying on the beach. ahhh beach
