ready and waiting to fall

Its been a good weekend. Friday night Mom and I watched Hitch and ate Chinese food. Saturday I did some stuff around the house and eventually headed to Highland. It was a small group from church which made it more fun. We spent most of the evening playing Kubb. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday our church service was at Highland and it was nice too. There was lots of singing and yummy food. Later Mom and I went shopping cause JCPenney was having a sale. :) We picked up Dad and went to El Charro for dinner.

Tomorrow is a big day. We have three new (sorta) people at work. Greg will leave my team and join Jeremy's. Jason has moved back to Harrisonburg and its his first day in the office. Dan moved to Harrisonburg and its his first day on my team. We're having an office warming party for Ben's team who moved to another location, it will also welcome all the new people. Then we can get focus on getting ready for the students to return.

you say potato, i say dinner

Yes its a potato kind of night. After yoga I was going to eat some cereal till I looked in the fridge. I realize there were some yummy leftovers waiting for me. Tots (tater) from the Napoleon movie night, Lantz potato salad, and mashed potatoes. I know it seems tatery(kinda like corny), but I decided to have them all. It seemed fitting somehow.

Sorry I haven't written in awhile, its been a busy several days. This weekend was Cathy Lantz's wedding. It was great to see her so happy.

I been successfully working out each day. The magic time is right after work. That allows me to have enough time for aerobic and strength training. Next week I might kick it up a notch and workout twice on some days. We'll see if that actually happens.

Lately I've been contemplating what a life totally dedicated to God looks like in today's world. Does it mean that you spend all your free time doing his work? Do you give up all things materialistic and give half your money to the church? Should you have a real job or do missionary work? Do you have interests or is everything about spreading the word? When is it ok to be materialistic? How did persons in the bible interact with society? Were they materialistic. And then the big question why are we here anyway?

Well, let me know if you had any answers. :)

take me for longing

Sorry for the two day absence. I was quite busy and tired. The good news is that I've started my five weeks to a new body workout routine. It involves weight training three times a week and aerobic training everyday. So I'm getting up early to visit the gym and again when I leave work. Its a crazy schedule but I'm determined to stick to it for five weeks.

I'm very pleased to announced that I have hired someone to fill the vacant position on my team. The person is Dan Risser who worked as a student assistant during the past year. He'll start on August 1. Yay!

everyday is like sunday

It was a very plesant sunday. After church, I hung out at home and took a long nap all afternoon. I spent some time cleaning, making a pizza, and painting my nails.

Tomorrow I'm gonna try, no scratch that. I will be going to the gym in the morning. Its time to get back into the zone.

partially clean

I had a very successful day, although it got off to a slow start. I actually cleaned the whole first floor of my house. It looks and smells good. I even cleaned out the junk drawer and organized the closet. What a great day, now i just have to clean the upstairs.

I spent the evening hanging out with Mike and Jonathan. We had a good time eating junk food and watching Napoleon Dynamite. Lucky.

The one thing i didn't do is work out. :( But i have aspirations to do that tomorrow.

back in the groove

I finally made it back to the gym. I went after work and spent 30 minutes on the eliptical machine. Yay! The bad part was feeling really out of shape. But the only remedy to that is more working out. My goal is to workout a lot for the next five weeks. Hopefully that will kick start my metabolism.

Tomorrow I'm planning to clean house really good. I've decided to combat clutter by getting rid of things I don't really need. You know how there are things you just keep around cause it seems like you should. Well not any more. They are going to the curb!

Bring on the cleaning endorphins!

is it friday yet?

of course not, but it is tomorrow! Yay! I've got an agenda for the weekend. Must clean house, must exercise and must sleep.

Nothing more to report from today.

these ordinary days

Finally I got my haircolored! Yay, it was about time. I also had an inch cut off, but its not too noticible. I scheduled a big appointment for next time. I'm gonna do something different and get highlights too!

The workday was fine. Nothing too eventful. Just the ordinary stuff. After work, Patty and I did some shopping. I stocked up on the usual fresh veggies at Costco. They have such good grape tomatoes and peppers.

One of my stuggles lately is keeping my house clean. It seems like an impossible task. The crazy part is that I'm the only one here. You'd think that would make it easy to keep clean. But somehow its not. I'm trying to use the Method excitemnet for cleaning and the special cleaning endorphins. But its not really working. Anyone have cleaning secrets that they'd be willing to share.

brown eyed girl

Today I went to the optometrist. He did all the usual tests on my eyes and deemed them ok. My eyes were so dilated that I missed yoga. I spend a nice evening eating chinese food and watching CSI with Patty.

I'm still working through issues that were brought up by Charlotte. What does it mean to be a rich Christian in a world that has poverty? How do i justify all the extras in my life when some people don't have their basic needs met? How do you sell everything and give to the poor in a world where we need to own things? How will i express my faith and let others know about Jesus?

These are the questions that have been going through my head. Anyone have answers?

brighter than sunshine

Well, it was a long day. Work wasn't too chaotic. It just seemed weird to be there all day. Not much to report. I had to get used to the regular office schedule. I was ready for a nap around 3:00, but no nap for me.

I had dinner at mom and dad's. It was my last chance to see them before they leave for Iowa.

Not much more to report. :)

this is your life

It was a very nice and relaxing sunday. It started with a really good worship service at church. The persons who had been at Charlotte reported on what they experienced. There was so much to talk about that the service went until 12:00.

I had lunch with my parents and spent the afternoon and evening relaxing. Tomorrow its back to reality.

As you may know, i've taken a break from working out. Well, its time to get back to it. I'll let you know how it goes. On that note, its time for bed.

there and back

I got back into the burg tonight. It was a most awesome week. I have so many thoughts going through my head and i'm not sure where to start. I may wait for a little bit until my thoughts are more cohesive. So I don't have much to report right now. Just getting used to being back and not having 6,000 people around. :)

More tomorrow

best of you

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I could go into the lengthy explaination, but i won't. My battery died before i had a chance. So tonight I'm posting BEFORE checking email. :)

Its been a good few days. Yesterday had some really good speakers whom i found inspiring. I also spent the whole afternoon in bed. It was awesome. The night before I had been up from 6am to 12:30am. So I really needed to catch up.

In the evening I hooked up with Amy and Audrey and spent some time with them at a pizza place. Yum! Its hard to summarize all the interesting thoughts going in my head. WE spent some tiemm doing a journaling excercise that was documenting a conversation with God, with you writing both parts. I found that very meaningful.

Today had good speakers as well. In the afternoon our group spent the afternoon doing a service project which was at a horse farm and we cleaned out stalls. It snot really clear how it was service and who it was helping. Oh well.

The big news of today is London. I couldn't believe it. My first thought was of Courtney. She is spending several weeks in London studying abroad. I said many prayers for her this morning. I was extremely grateful to recieve a call from Dawn letting me know that she is safe.

Tomorrow is the last full day. Keep Charlotte in your prayers. God is doing an incredible work here. :)

Charlotte rocks

The morning started out semi early. The buses pulled out around 8. The ride was pretty ordinary. I enjoyed listening to my new tunes and reading.

I forgot to mention that yesterday when I was out getting new tuneage. I happened to find the motorola e815. This is the cell phone I have been waiting two months for. So I had to buy it. Turns out its worth waiting for. What an awesome phone. :)

Anyway, back to Charlotte. After we arrived and settled into our rooms. Clay, Matt, Sarah and I decided to explore the convention center. I checked out the EMU booths. I was informed that the EMU cell phones don't work here. Since theres not much I can do, I promised to tell Andy. :)

We had yummy pizza at a place called Fuel. After we hung around and waited for the doors to open. The speaker tonight was Luke Hartman. He was really good.

Significant menno sightings are:
Lance & Rhonda Miller
Doug Schlabach
Todd Lehman
Larry Guengerich

Well I guess thats about all for now. Later days

new tuneage

My 3o days in June was successful. I managed to floss almost every day. In addition I have continued the success of May's challenge and have long fingernails. So its time to set a new challenge for July. Drumroll please......I will blog everyday. :)

Tomorrow I leave for charlotte for mennonite youth convention. It will be a blast and I'm excited. In anticipation of the trip I bought some new tunes:

Foo Fighers - In your honor
Mae - The everglow
Jack Johnson - In between dreams
Aqualung - Strange & Beautiful
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Daft Punk - Human after all
The Postal Service - We will become silhouettes

I can't wait to listen. :)

Till tomorrow.....
