rainy monday

I had a pretty good weekend. So much accomplished. I'll try to report everything.

Wednesday I woke up feeling sick. Sore throat and runny nose. I worked out anyway and popped advil cold and sinus all day. I had no plans for the evening so I rested and took it easy.

Thursday I still felt sick but went on as usual. By evening time, I was ready to crash so I skipped the Maundy Thursday service at church. I rested instead.

Friday the excitement began. Mom, Dad, & I headed northeast to Ikea! I bought a bookcase and a rug. Both in black. We also hit Potomac Mills, but I didn't find anything there. We took a different route home and stopped at the Plow & Hearth outlet in Charlottesville. I wasn't expecting to find anything, but I was very happy to get a pair of tevas for $45. I really needed new ones. We ate dinner at some diner place in C'ville. I pretty much vegged when we got back. It was really tiring shopping all day.

Saturday I worked on my Spring Cleaning. I really wanted to put my bookcase together, but not until the cleaning was done. I washed windows, swept, dusted, gathered trash, and scrubbed. I was ready to work on the book case around 9ish. I was pretty exhausted and it required hammering so I decided it was too late to make noise so I called it quits.

Easter Sunday I went to chuch and had lunch with the fam. Mom makes such yummy food. Its hard to have any self control. I just want to keep eating till i burst. :) Back at the house I took a nap and then continued with the cleaning/putting together. Mom & Dad came over to help with the bookcase and to see the new stuff. Mom said "You've really made this place look nice". You know I agree with her. I do have one room left to pain. I'm thinking green (jade) or blue. Its been fun making it feel like my own place but even nicer. I'm not sure if that makes sense. What I mean is that its my style and I feel comfortable here, but it also looks nice like it could be in a magazine. I really do need a new couch. Maybe that will be my next big purchase.

Anyway, i feel like things are really coming together right now. I'll write more about that at another time. Nite y'all.

springtime in jenniville

Last friday I took the day off work to do spring cleaning. The day started with a grueling workout and oatmeal breakfast. So I didn't get started cleaning until 10ish. My goal was to go give the whole house a through cleaning. Which included scrubbing every surface, purging possessions, and organizing everything.

Needless to say, it didn't all get done. I was extremely productive. I have a stack of boxes to prove it. Around 3 I realized it was time to get ready for the VMRC auction and I needed to put things sorta back in order. I also realized that it would be a bigger project than i first thought. I'll be working on it all week and weekend.

The auction was fun. I got a pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses for $25. I also bought a tv stand and sold it to Patty. I had volunteered to take money again and Amy helped. So I didn't get away until 10ish. Then I headed up to Winchester for the Zion Mennonite Women's retreat. I almost didn't go, but I'm really glad that I did. I enjoyed hanging out with the other women and spending time thinking about our stories.

We had free time on Saturday afternoon, so I couldn't pass up the chance to shop at Target. It was a good thing that I went. I found a duvet cover, bedskirt, and shams for $35. It is almost exactly the color of my bedroom. I'm pretty sure I like it. I also shopped at Kohls, TJ Maxx, and JC Penney. I got home around 6ish.

Sunday I pretty much did nothing. I must have been tired from all the stuff from fri & sat. I did cook and make food for the week. So I wasn't a total slug.

Now you're all up to date in my life. Its really interesting that I have this very strong urge to totally clean my house. I'm also preoccupied with decorating it and finishing the last room. Mybe its nesting or maybe its just spring.

everything's not lost

sorry i didn't get a chance to update from the weekend. I'll try to do it tonight. It was a really good weekend. :)

new boyfriend?

Some of you may already know about the admirer I have at church. But since you might not I'll start at the very begining. I've heard its a good place to start. We have some people who are mentally challenged who come to our church. Well a couple years ago one of these persons, a guy named Junior, came up to shake my hand. Not wanting to seem unfriendly, I shook his hand. He pulled me in and kissed me on the cheek. I was pretty shocked and felt a little violated. After that I pretty much kept away from him and tried not to make eye contact.

Well tonight we had youth group and the activity was to spend some time at the house where these people live. We played cards and colored. And of course junior was there. He hovered around me a little but I pretty much ignored him. Of course i didn't want to seem unfriendly, but i did feel a little threatened. He even rubbed my back a little it was kinda weird. When we were ready to leave and said goodbye to everyone. I had to say goodbye to junior and he said "i see you in church". I sorta smiled and then he said "I still like you". I sorta ignored him and he said it again. I didn't know what to do so i just said ok and walked away.

So how should I have handled it? Why can't i have that affect on someone who isn't metally challenged?

Its been a pretty ordinary week. I've been working out as usual. So I should signoff and get to bed. Night all :)

cleveland rocks, pt 4

I know this is a little late in coming. but here's the end of my cleveland adventure.

Saturday was another leasurely morning. We started out with a tour of Adam & Bryan's church. It is this really cool oldish church. It reminded me of a old timey cathedral, with stained glass and cool architecture. We had lunch at a cafe au roma which is right beside their church. It was really tasty. Then we stopped at ten thousand villages which was right next door.

Next stop was a museum called Moca. There was some really neat art there. I bought a "cute" stuffed creature. His name is wedgehead. After our culture experience, we headed back to the apartment and it was time for courtney and i to leave. We packed up the car and left around 4 and got back into harrisonburg around 11.

cleveland rocks, pt 3

It was another fun day in cleveland. Starting with a yummy breakfast of waffles made by Bryan. After we all got ready , it was time for lunch at the Waterstreet Grill. I had angel hair pasta with tomatoes. It was a neat place, but the waitress wasn't very good. She seemed to get upset when we asked her to split up the check. Then she ignored us while we were waiting with our credit cards. No tip for you!

Next stop SPACES. This is an art gallery. There were some interesting exhibits. The best one was about abandoned shopping carts. Someone had categorized all the different ways carts are abandoned and made an official looking chart. It was too funny.

The Westside market was our next stop. We decided to buy stuff to eat later. I got XX sharp cheddar cheese. It was really good. I also got chocolate covered pretzels and a chocolate covered jalapeno pepper for Adam. Courtney got feta olive spread and olive bread. Yay for rhyming food. We also got courtney cheese and crackers. Of course it wouldn't have been complete without a red pepper.

No trip would be complete without a stop at Costco. This one is much bigger than the one in harrisonburg. Dinner was at Liquid Plant. I had a mango smoothie and a pita apple sandwich.

We spend the evening watching movies and eating all the food we gathered. Good times!

I need to tell you about Courtney's new friend Bev. On our way home from Max's (thursday night), she decided that her cheesecake was so good, that it should have a name. The name should not be gender specific. After many attempts the name Bev was decided on and the Cheesecake so named. Courtney was able to enjoy Bev several times on friday. :)

We weren't sure which day to head back. There's lots more to do in cleveland, but some practical reasons to get back on saturday. After much contemplation we decided to head back later today.

cleveland rocks, pt 2

Our first full day in Cleveland was lots of fun. We had a leisurely morning hanging around the apartment eating breakfast and chatting. Bryan took the day off to be our tour guide. We met Adam for lunch at Chipolte. Its a lot like Qdoba, but fewer choices.

Then we headed over to Legacy Village. Its a quaint shopping center. Bryan bought an ipod shuffle at the apple store. I checked out the ipod accessories, but managed to resist. We walked through some swanky home decor stores.

Next stop was the two story Target. I bought some Method products, since they're suppose to be really good and environmentally friendly. The coolest thing about the target was the escalator. Since its two floors and most people use a cart, they had an escalator just for the cart. When we got off the escalator we were confronted by the large black lady bending over showing us her lace thong. :0

In the evening, we went to the Cleveland Symphony. It wa a really neat experience. The first part featured a cello soloist. It was really good. The best part was crazy glasses lady. She was wearing a sherpa sweater and really big glasses. They were brown and looked like something worn in the 60s, by men.

Afterwards, we raced across town to get desert at Max's. I had an amazing chocolate cake.

can i get a whoot

I've got to give props to my girl PB (patty). She shocked all her friends by getting up early Wednesday morning and going to the fitness center. Then she did it again on Thursday. This is pretty significant cause she is a card carrying night person. So if you see her, give her a pat on the back or a hug and tell her how awesome she is! :)
