snow days

It was a pretty quiet weekend. The predicted snow was pretty disappointing. We called off our shopping trip, which was the right choice since it hit much harder up north.

Saturday I pretty much just hung out around the house. I made soup and bread, YUM! In the evening I was productive working on my scrapbook. It was awesome, I was in the zone!

Sunday church was cancelled so I spent a leisurely morning drinking coffee and watching Monk. I also took a nap. :) Eventually I dragged my body to the fitness center. I had a really good work out. I've started a fitness blog, where I'll keep track of my workout details. I also made a stop at Food Lion since I'm almost out of milk. I made the mistake of going when I was hungry. Boy was that challenging. I wanted to eat everything I saw. But I didn't, I was a good girl and only bought healthy food. I also stopped in at the Piper ranch. They were hanging out around the cozy fire.

Oh by the way, I have been enjoying delicious strawberries. My thanks go out to Jimmy, Amy, Diann, and Jeremy. They braved the snow for the precious strawberries.

Time for bed, I need to start out the week with a good night of sleep. :)

hi ho, hi ho, its off to workout i go

Thats my motto these days at 6:15. The working out thing is going well. :)

Last night Lynley met with my small group to educate and inspire our fitness routines. It was good to hear about what to focus on and how to challenge my muscles. I can't wait to start using the free weights. One of my goals is to have arms that look like lynley. Since a arm transplant is probably out of the question, I have a lot of work to do.

Tonight I took dinner to Mike & Sarah. It was good to hang out with them and hold Jonathan. Being an aunt is awesome!

Keep your fingers crossed that there will be no snow on Saturday. I was planning a shopping trip to Hagerstown Outlet mall. If it snows, it'll be postponed.

adventures with bean dip

ok, a stupid thing happened to me on the way home from church tonight. I was out there for Women's Night Out and had a lot of fun. On the way home I was traveling on a twisted country road and hear a noise that sounded like the lid coming off my crockpot. I fumble around trying to find the interior lights. Finally I find them and keep my car on the road. I am horrified to see the crockpot tipped over and bean dip oozing on the floor by the passenger seat.

I'm on a curvy narrow road and cannot stop to fix the situation. So I keep driving. Eventually I get to Grace Mennonite and pull over. I try to scoop up the dip using the lid. It sorta works. I also use my right hand. I quickly realize that its not going to get any better until I get home. So now I realize my hand is covered in bean dip and I have to drive. A brillant idea pops into my head. Problem: yummy bean dip is all over my hand. Solution: Lick off yummy bean dip! Simple yet brillant. WRONG.

It doesn't take long to realize that the bean dip had been on the floor and now I have fuzz and hair in my mouth. So I use my clean left hand to remove the yucky stuff and drive. Eventually my right hand dries so I can drive with both hands.

Finally I'm at home and can clean up the mess. In the house I discover bean dip on my new coat. Good Grief. Somehow I had patience. I kept thinking "this will make a really good story to blog about". :) I wipe up as much as I can in the freezing cold. I clean up my jacket and dump the bean dip. I guess I've done my stupid thing for the week.

mo money, mo problems

Lately I've been thinking a lot about what I spend my money on and if there will be enough. See this is the last month I receive a property settlement check from the ex. This money has always been my safety net if i spent too much in a month. So now I have to make it on my own. I'm ready for it, but afraid that it may mean sacrifices. Part of the problem is that I love buying clothes and I'm not ready to give up that vice.

Today in church Radell talked about his service in Bolivia. As he told about the lifestyle there, I couldn't help but think about all the wonderful things I have in my life. How lucky I am to own my home and everything in it.

So I guess the answer to money problems is to spend sometimes in the gratitude journal and realize I have everything I need.

Resolution update: Things are going good with the working out. 6 of the last 7 days I worked out. So far I can't see any results, but maybe i'll see some this week. :)

sweet baby jonathan

Yesterday I got to hang out with my new nephew. He is absolutely adorable!!! The most beautiful baby ever!I got to hold him for awhile. He just slept peacefully. It reminded me alot of something Dan wrote about Caleb.

So far I'm doing pretty good on the workout resolution. I've worked out three days in a row. Yay!

resolve

I got up today around six and went to the gym. It felt good to stick with my resolution. But I sure am tired tonight. I'm gonna try to make it again tomorrow.

It was a really busy day at work. New students, new computers, lots of phone calls. Pretty much crazy. Tonight we celebrated Audrey's birthday. We had the people at Outback sing to her. :)

Tomorrow I get to spend some quality time with my nephew Jonathan. I'm pretty excited to hold him.

Well 6 is gonna come pretty soon. I'd better call it a night.

over the mountain

I've been craving a shopping trip, so I convinced Jeb (my co-worker) to make the trip over the mountain to charlottesville. It was fun, but I didn't find any clothes. Jeb however, had an awesome day. He found lots of good deals.

On the baby note. Mom and Dad got to visit with Mike, Sarah and Jonathan. They held the baby and had a really nice visit. I can't wait to spend some quality time with my new nephew. :)

So this is the new year

It was great being off for 10 days. I enjoyed being lazy and productive at the same time. Reality hit pretty hard on Monday morning. I was ready to start one of resolutions which is to work out every morning. I failed. :( I'm trying to not be too hard on myself. My sleep cycle got really out of wack on New Years Eve.

I hung out with some of the MYF and watched all three lord of the rings movies (extended version). It took around 13 hours. It was a lot of fun. :) I was planning to sleep all day on Sat, but I couldn't. It was actually kinda weird.

Saturday I hung out with Courtney, Adam, and Bryan. It was wonderful to see Adam again! We did the low key thing by watching Napoleon Dynamite, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Monk. Adam made his usual yummy bean dip. Yay for good friends, food, and fun!

This week has been really busy. Work has been crazy and i've had plans every night. Of course they're all good plans, but add to the busy feeling.

Of course the most exciting new is that I will very soon be an aunt. Sarah is spending the night at the hospital. The Dr. will induce labor in the morning. Keep Mike & Sarah in your thoughts and prayers.
