a tail of 3 cats

Well actually 2 cats and 1 kitten. Let me start at the begining. That would be tuesday October 19. I was funadoing with Ney (they're all raving about the Ney), and the Lapps. Somehow the conversation turned to "is 3 cats too many". My opinion is 2 cats is fine, 3 cats is pretty much Crazy Cat Lady. This is how i've managed to limit myself. :) The conversation went on to something else.

The story begins again on Saturday October 23. Its twilight and the cats wanted to go outside. So out we go, and there is a kitten on the porch. The amazing thing is that Misty doesn't chase it. She just looks at the kitten. It start meowing like crazy so I get some food and feed it. This makes it really happy. The cats don't seem very happy, but they're not chasing it, just watching. I let it hang out in my doorway for a little bit, but Misty & Spooky seem really unahappy. So we go inside and the kitty goes away.

Next we move to Tuesday October 26. Its twilight again and Misty gets excited while looking out the window. I investigate and find the kitten on my porch. I feed it and bring it inside. Its very content. Misty and Spooky are not. They're upset and not happy with me. So after trying this for a littel while, I put the kitten outside. It sits on my porch for awhile and peaks in the windows. My heart is breaking because she seems to want back in really badly. I don't give in because Misty is growling at me and looking at me like i've betrayed her.

So for the next few days I don't see the kitten, but i can't stop thinking about her. I imagine her outside sleeping in the cold. It seems like a miserable life. So after work on friday, i sit on the portch determined to find the kitten again. It doesn't take long. This time i'm ready. The plan is to put the kitten in my downstairs bathroom. I scoop her up show her the room. The first step is for them to get used to each others scent. So no contact.

Saturday they spend most of the day apart. I try to act normal to the cats and get aquainted with the kitten. It is very affectionate and friendly, I'm hooked.

Sunday, I'm more imapatient. I let the kitten hangout downstairs. Misty and Spooky come down occasionally to hiss and growl. In the afternoon, i feel conflicted. I've begun bonding with the kitten, but my heart hurts because Misty and Spooky are unhappy. I think they're becoming less grumpy, but i feel bad for putting them through this.

I'm not sure what the right thing to do is. I don't want to be crazy cat lady, I don't want to make Misty and Spooky unhappy, and I don't want to give up on the kitten. Any words of wisdom out there. Anyone want to provide a good home for a sweet kitten? It would be hard for me to see her go, but i'm open to the possibility that it could be the best solution for everyone.

An interesting side note. While writing this with all the lights out ( i didn't buy halloween candy) the kitten fell asleep on the arm rest by my head and Misty fell asleep on my feet. Maybe there's hope :)

the end has no end

I'm pretty much done with my final exam. Its funny how anti-climatic being done is. I thought this might be how it feels. Not knowing what to do. So what should i do? just kidding :)

I was able to have my first weekly movie night. Yay! I watched Cold Mountain. It was a good movie. I recommend it to you all. Thanks Rebecca for loaning it to me. I can finally give it back.

Not much else to report. Just that I can finally emerge from the cave that i've been in and return to the land of the living. See ya out there in the real world. :)

race day

The big day is here, and the race was this morning. At 9:00 we gathered at VMRC to begin the 5k. I was all prepared with lucky number 24 pinned to my shirt. The plan was to walk for 2 minutes then run for 3. I would repeat this 7 times and finish with a time around 35minutes. I started with walking and let the serious runners take the lead. It was a little different running outside and on the road. But i adapted. There was one lady who was running at a similar pace. I would pass her when I ran then she'd pass me when I walked. I let her stay in the lead for the last half of the race, till it was time to run my last interval. Then I passed her and kept running till I crossed the finish line. My time was 36.04. I'm really happy with it and can't wait to keep training and improve on it.

Snaps to Mom for a really yummy breakfast after the race. And Snaps to Mike, Patty, Audrey, and Amy for completing the 5k! Good Jorb!

murder at emu

Today Dan Risser, one of our student assistants, came into the office and said "I think there's a police convention or something, because there are 10 police cars in the commons parking lot" So the first thing I thought was there's no convention. The only thing that could bring on that many police cars would be murder. So at lunch we went to the cafeteria and there were lots of police people around wearing nametags. It turns out there was some type of convention, not murder.

So I guess the moral of the story is that it's possible to watch too many crime dramas. :)

So let me ask you, what's the difference between the millitary being on campus for college night and the police being on campus for a convention?

Anyway, tonight we finally were able to have funado. Its been awhile. Dan made yummy bruschetta and courtney made yummy cookies. Unfortunately they were all battling illness, I hope you all feel better soon.

how soon is now

I've only got one week left in the accounting class Hallelujah! It can't come soon enough. My focus for the past 7 weeks has been on exercise and accounting. It will be really nice to expand my activities. Not to mention the mess i've been living in. I haven't even had time to put anything away like groceries, laundry, clean dishes.

I'm still contemplating whether or not I should continue working on the MBA. Each week when I take the quiz and don't receive a perfect score (like i deserve), I feel like a failure. Maybe I'm just not cut out to be a student. I didn't enjoy college that much and I'm not sure that it fits into my priorities. I would probably place more emphasis on it if I felt like i was a good student. Are some people just not good students? How do you find out?

Yesterday I did another mock 5k. My time was good and I made it without collapsing. I'm feeling pretty confident that i'll be able to run 2/3s of it. Snaps to Mike, Myrna (aka Mom), Patty, Amy & Audrey for signing up! You guys will do awesome!

bring on the 5k

Tonight I did a trial run and I was pretty happy with it. I did 21 laps which is 3 miles. I walked one lap and ran 2. So I ended up running 2 miles and walking one. It took about 36 minutes. So I set my goal for the 5k at 35minutes.

all apologies

Sorry for the absence of posts lately. The accounting class strikes again. I won't bore you with the nitty gritty details. Just know that it keeps me busy. :)

Comforter Update:
They both arrived last week. An interesting note, Trinity wasn't white, it was more like a light blue. Both were very pretty. But neither matched my room color. So, yesterday I returned them. So the quest continues. I'm really tempted to make a crazy quilt, but that seems really ambitious.

I've been doing some internet shopping for fall clothes. Yay! Its fun to spend money. With the air starting to feel cold it puts me in the mood for new clothes with long sleeves and coats.

Its crazy that I'm at a loss of words. But that's how much time the stupid class has been taking. I did get to spend some time at the relief sale this weekend, but most of the time i sat on my couch learning accounting.

Well maybe tomorrow will be more eventful. But its ok if its not. :)
