move your feet

I had the Junior Senior song in my head today. So if you don't know it go check it out.

Work continues to be crazy busy. Fortunately I have fantastic people working on my team. I don't know what I would do without them. Snaps to Greg, Andy, Dave, Adam and Jon! And we couldn't do it without Michael. :)

I leave on Sunday for Kentucky. Where our youth group is doing a service project. I haven't begun to think about it. I don't know if its denial or passive agressive behavior. I think we'll have a good time, its just hard to think about being away during such a busy time.

Last night we had an "i love the 90's funado". It was a lot of fun. Dan won for best costume and best soup. Adam and I made our famous bean dip and Courtney brought yummy cheese. If you haven't watched the i love the 90's you really should.

Tonight I had dinner at Taste of Thai with mom and dad. I had my usual, #46. It was deliciousl.

I've decided to sell my car. So if you know of anyone who wants a 2000 Civic EX with 22000 miles, let me know. I'd like to get $10,000 for it. I've pretty much decided on the Mazda3. It is a really sweet car.

Remember to keep Patty and her family in your prayers. Her mother continues to battle cancer. Pray that God will continue to make his presence known with tiny miracles. My cousin could also use your prayers. She has had a tough life and struggled with alcohol use. Now she finds herself in jail and pregnant. We are the same age and were always paired together at family gatherings. So my heart hurts for her.

Thanks for listening. :)

101 posts

That's right. Its hard to image I've had that much to say, but its true. Here's what's happened since my last post. Thursday I hung out with some friends who hadn't gotten together in a long time. We had a blast! We ate on the roof at Calhouns. We will have to do it again but not wait so long!

Friday I went to see Anchorman with the Lantz bros. The movie was ok. But I realized that I enjoy action and drama movies better than most comedies. After they came over and we played Smash Bros for a little while. For some reason I stayed up watching tv till 3am. I guess I'm just crazy.

Saturday I did absolutely nothing. It was a really weird day. I wanted to clean my car and do some stuff around the house. But it was not meant to be. I couldn't get motivated to do anything besides watching tv and sleeping. I blame the cats. Their lifestyle was rubbing off on me. I did shower and get out of the house to see Shrek2 with Courtney. It was a wonderful movie. I laughed so much. It made me think about why I enjoyed it but not anchorman. I decided that in movies I laugh when the comedy is natural. It flows with the plot and doesn't take away from the story. In anchorman the plot was really thin and didn't seem to be as important as the funny stuff. In Shrek the humor seemed intelligent and didn't take away from the plot. In fact the plot was more important than the humor. Hopefully this makes sense. :)

Fortunately tomorrow is another day. I am hoping to be more productive than today.

deep thoughts

So I was thinking the other day about being single and how society makes us feel incomplete without someone special to love. If you could come up with a list of things that makes us happy and feel content. The list would probably look something like this: spouse, family, children, money, friends, house, good job... you get the idea. So when I look at a list like that, I feel really lucky. I have so many things and people in my life. Other people may have the spouse, but not some of the others. I have more things on the list than when I was married. So why is it that I feel more incomplete? I blame it on society. What do you guys think? Maybe its just a way for me to feel better about whats going on in my life. But I do think there is something to society wanting to pair everyone off and making singles feel liek they are missing something. That's probably enough deep thoughts for tonight.

gory details

I know its been awhile since I've written. I was really busy with house stuff. So here's the update:

July 6: I interviewed someone for Adam's position. This was weird since i've never been incharge of an interview process before. It went well, just felt weird to be the one leading it. In the evening I worked to get my bedroom ready to be painted.

July 7: In the evening I ate dinner at church. I was happy that they had a non-meat option; peanut butter an jelly. Then I had MYF it was a bible study to prepared for our trip to Kentucky.

July 8: This was a busy day. I had another interview. It went ok too. Then in the evening I attended a Body Shop party at Lynley's house. Krista Martin was the consultant and did a great job. The next stop was EMU for a youth event at VA conference. We played games and hung out. It was a lot of fun. We even taped Aaron to a pillar.

July 9&10: I took the day off to paint my bedroom. I also spent some time getting new tires. Did you know that the new thing in tired is to fill them with nitrogen. Well that's what i found out. Painting turned out to be a pretty big job. Between prepping the room and getting tires, I didn't get started until 3:00. Patty came over in the afternoon to hangout and keep me company. Around 7 we stopped to eat chinese food with Connie. I finished the second coat in the bathroom around 8:30 So around 9 Mom and Dad came over to help me put up my bathroom mirror. It was super heavy. I kept at it until 1:30 when i had finished the first coat all over and the second coat of edges. I laid down for a nap on the couch but didn't sleep very well. So at 4:30 I got up and finished the second coat, made my bed and went to bed around 6:15.

I slept until 10:30 when i drug my weary body out of bed. It felt like i had been hit by a truck. After a little while, I ran over to Adelphia and visited Connie. She hooked me up with the new digital box that can record shows. Its awesome. I worked on getting it hooked up and napping. Then it was time for the Sunday School picnic. There was so much yummy food! I loved Steph's broccoli salad; she was nice enough to let me take some home. I also got to hold Nevin until he fell asleep. What a sweet little boy.

After the picnic, Patty and I did some shopping. I found a couple of shirts at Kohls and a perfect shower curtain. The best find of the evening was two pairs of pants at Express that were on sale for $20 (usually they are $60)! When I got back home, I spent a little time putting my room back together.

July 11: All week I had been planning to attend the sunday morning service at conference, but i talked myself out of it. Instead I had breakfast with my Sunday School class at Golden Corral. I was fun to see everyone again. I especially enjoyed holding Simon. He is a sweetie. Then Patty and I did some more shopping. I was on a quest to find an acceptable duvet cover. But alas, none were to be found. Then it was time to finish getting the bathroom and bedroom back to normal. Dad came over and put up the new towel racks. Now normally I would have done this myself, but I tried in the downstairs bathroom and I did ok. But Dad does that kind of thing so much better than me. So what i'm saying is that i'm self-sufficiant, but I asked for help because I have someone I can ask. He also did an awesome job! The room looks really good if i do say so myself. I am very happy with the color. It looks so much better.

July 12: Time to go back to work. It was a busy day. I hired Jon Leichty as our new User Services Tech/Programmer. I think it will be a really good match. In the evening Amy made dinner for our small group. It was yummy. I took off early to do some shopping with my mom. We continued the quest for a duvet cover. I have officially decided to give up for now. There just aren't any around with the right dimensions and the right color. I did find a silver trash can that wasn't $30.

July 13: Today was another busy day. I had to make "the phone call" to the person we didn't hire. It went ok, but I sure don't need to do it again. Work was pretty ordinary. In the evening I met Cathy and Patty to go for a walk. WE had fun catching up with each other and pushing Nevin.

So that's all the news fit to print. :)

happy fourth

Friday night was the myf pool party at Jesse's. Steven, Jesse, and I had a good time.

Saturday was a pretty lazy day. I did do a little shopping at Costco and Lowes. I finally picked out paint for my bedroom (warm embrace) and downstairs bathroom (applesauce cake). It was also the night of the annual Shenandoah Valley Coral Societ fourth of july concert. Once again they did an excellent job. Snaps to Audrey.

Sunday was church and painting. I started on the downstairs bathroom. In the evening I went to Alethia church again. It rocked.

Monday I slept in awhile. It felt so nice not to get up early. I lounged around for awhile. Then finished up the bathroom and cleaned the kitchen. Later it was time for small group at Patty & Connie's. We had yummy green beans, potatoes, and ham in broth. It was very tasty! Desert was an excellent oreo pie.

Back to the grind tomorrow
