back in the burg

We drove into town about 3:00. It feel great to be back amongst the real people. I'm working on my laundry and hanging out with the cats. Misty seems to have gained a few pounds.

It'll probably be a quiet evening at home since it seems like everyone is out of town.

day six; lost at sea

ok, we're not really lost, it just seems that way. The water is really blue and it's all you can see. The weather is kinda nice but windy. The ride is really choppy. I kinda enjoy the movement of the ship, just not when i'm walking. Then it just makes me feel drunk.

Its been another leasurely day at sea. I woke up ordered some coffee and watched Charmed. I ate breakfast and listened to a talk about how to leave the ship tomorrow. Then i read outside. After so much activity it was time for a nap. Then back outside for more reading. I know its a rough life, but that's the reality of a cruise. Not much to do.

Tonight there is a show, dinner, talent show and we must have our bags packed by midnight. So a lot is going on. Maybe i should go take a nap so i can be ready. :)

Next time you hear from me i'll be on dry land in the burg! HOORAY! Call me i want something exciting to do!

day five; pt 2

Well i'm all dressed up and waiting for the show to start. The room is rockin' from the movement of the ocean. We had a delicious dinner. The staff did a parade with baked alaska. The food has been very yummy, however i will not need to eat fish for awhile. So far i've had it for lunch and dinner every day. Its getting to be a bit much.

Tomorrow we are at sea all day. Should be another exciting day. As usual i'll keep you posted.

day five; pt. 1

Today has been fairly uneventful. Breakfast, watching Charmed, reading by the pool, lunch, and now hanging out at the internet cafe.

The weather is overcast but warmish. Mike & Sarah decided to head to the beach. I might hangout by the pool this afternoon.

We head by to VA today at 4. So its almost over. Tonight is the second formal dinner. Should be fun to get really dressed up again. Before you know it, i'll be back in the burg. :)

day four

today the plan was to visit the beach. no such luck. the weather was overcast and windy. so instead we took a bus ride to the far end of the island and visited the docks. there were some shops and stuff to look at. then we took the bus back to the boat.

after a nap and a shower, we ventured out into hamilton for harbor night. this was kinda disappointing. they made it sound like a huge street festival. but it was just a few tables set up in the street and the stores were all open. nothing too exciting.

tonight the show is late 10:30 and its a singer. Not sure what to expect. oh well. only a few more days to go.

day three

Today we arrived in Hamilton. Its a bigger city than st. george. I slept in again. Eventually we ventured out to see the shops. They were just like the beachy touristy shops you find anywhere. Cheesy t-shirts and trinkets. Needless to say, i didn't buy anything.

I was a bum for the afternoon, spending most of the time in bed sleeping and watching tv. Have i mentioned how hard it is to be on a cruise by myself and not willing to spend endless cash on having fun. Oh well, now i know what a cruise is like. I would definately come back if I was part of a couple. There is huge fun potential then.

Tomorrow we're going to the beach. That should be fun! I'll keep ya posted.

day two

Last night was the first formal dinner. Nothing too eventful. After dinner there was an hour show tribute to broadway. Kinda entertaining.

This morning we docked in St. George. I slept in till almost 10. Unbelievable. After some breakfast, Mike, Sarah & i decided to hang out by the pool. It was really hot, but nice. We did that for about 2 hours. Now it was time for some lunch.

Around 4 we took an hour carriage ride around the city. It's a holiday in Bermuda so the stores are closed.

So far my opinion of the cruise is unchanged. I think it would be more fun if I was a part of a pair. It is also very expensive to do anything on a cruise besides eat and lounge. I am getting more use to it, so it doesn't seem as bad. :)

Day One

By the time we reached Norfolk and boarded the ship, i was ready for a nap. But we had the safety drill first. Then we starting moving around 5pm. You do notice the movement of the boat, but the motion hasn't made me sick. We ate dinner at 8:30 and then i hit the casino. When i blew $20 in 15 minutes, i decided that it wasn't much fun.

Mike and Sarah went to bed early because Sarah was experiencing motion sickness. This left me flying solo, which isn't much fun on a cruise. Everyone is paired up with someone. I wandered around blew another $5 in the casino. Checked out every level and even stood at the front of the ship. Just like in Titanic, except no Leonaro.

Today I slept in and got ready leisurely. I managed to waste some time listening to a talk about shopping in Bermuda. Then played a game of Bingo, but i didn't win. At 1:15 it was time for my spa treatment. YAY!

First she brushed my arms and legs. Then put some green seaweed goop all over my body. Finally i was wrapped up in foil, just like a baked potato. After 20 minutes, i washed the goop off. Then begain my hour massage. It was wonderful. I felt so relaxed. Not sure if it was worth $250, but oh well.

So far my opinion of crusin is that it is sorta fun, but there's not much to do. I didn't realize that i needed to be active all the time, but i guess i do. It's also really hard to be here all by myself. It would be a lot more fun with a group of friends. There are lots of activities to do, but i'm not really excited to do them alone. Have i mentioned that most of the people on the cruise have white hair? Well they do.

Tonight is one of the formal dinners. So i'll get all dressed up. Should be sorta fun. Tomorrow we port in Bermuda, and we'll hit the town. I'll keep you posted. Internet access is only 50 cents a minute. :)

mission impossible...or is it?

Ok friends, family and whomever is reading this, your mission should you choose to accept it is: find me a quality man. That's right I am ready to date again. You may be asking yourself what kind of man would jenni want to date? That's a good question. There are three really important qualities that i'm looking for and then a few common interests.

Two must have qualities:
1. Faithful- they wouldn't consider cheating or dating anyone else while we're together.
2. Cherish - they will think i'm the bomb and treat me accordingly
3. Christian - they don't need to be super christian (or mennonite), but it would be good if they are comfortable at a church

interests:
1. enjoy pop culture, movies, music, some tv, books etc
2. running, exercising, and/or lifting weights
3. technology
4. trying new things

I don't want this to sound like i'm desperate or man crazy. My life is full and enjoyable. I would be quite happy if nothing changed. However it was fun to date and i'd sorta like to do it again. So if you have any idea of someone i should date, leave a comment or send an email.

i ran

It was a very uneventful sunday. It started with the usual, church. Then lunch with the fam. I vegged on the couch and napped for a little while. Then when the sun came back out, I went for a run. It felt good to do that again. I went to purcell park. They have a really nice path. I enjoyed the endorphin high that came after the run.

Patty, Connie and I went to qdoba for dinner. Then a quick trip to walmart. The last stop was Barnes & Noble for a chai tea. It was there that i ran into Jack & Nadia. They were very nice of course and it didn't seem weird. It was actually good to talk with Nadia for a little bit.

Sopranos was weird. Tony had a really strange dream that lasted around 20 minutes. It really seemed like filler. There are only 2 episodes left in the season. The preview for next week looked really good.

Note: You may have noticed that most of my blog titles are songs. Leave a comment if you know the artist or group that sings the song.

six feet under

Today I spent most of the day at a makeup seminar in Fairfax. It was mostly interesting. After I got back, not much happened. I was feeling pretty lazy. I've spent the evening on the couch watching the first three episodes of six feet under. They're pretty good.

Not many deep thoughts today. Maybe tomorrow :)

24 hours

I just rediscovered an awesome song by switchfoot. Its called 24 and it speaks to how quickly things can change in just 24 hours. It also brings hope into these situations by asking God to be a part of it. You can check out the lyrics here. I highly recommend their whole cd, but especially tracks 2,8,11.

Today started out with my yearly performance appraisal. It went very well, i was pleased. My boss thinks i am doing an excellent job. Whew, that's a relief. I feel like there is so much i need to do better, but i must be doing some things right. Lately I've been feeling all the extra responsibility that has been given to me. I enjoy my job and am glad to have the opportunity to further my career. I'm afraid that it means i'll need to put in more hours. That's not something i'm really interested in doing, but i do want to succeed. I guess i'll take one day at a time. :)

Tonight the funado group got together early and watched a taped copy of the season finale of scrubs. Of course it was excellent. Then we went to the beanery for some dinner. I had a yummy crab cake sandwich. Dan had to leave early to go work. Lynley, Adam and I went to Starbucks and Circuit City. I bought a couple new cds: the stills, the shins, and modest mouse.

Yesterday, i volunteered at Patchwork Pantry. It is always shocking to work with people who are living in poverty. It really helps put trivial things in perspective. I am extremely thankful that I have a good job that allows me to supply my needs and some extravagances.

time after time

Tonight Julie, Diann and I went out to dinner. It was fun to catch up on their lives. After dinner, I wandered around Barnes & Noble and then checked out some stores at the mall. I didn't find anything to spend my money on, so I went home.

I have a few friends that are going through tough times. Please say a prayer for them. I can't say much about it here, but they can use your good thoughts.

extreme makeover

You've probably already discovered that my blog has a new look. YAY! It was time for something new and exciting :)

Another new addition is the ability to leave comments! Double YAY! Now when i ask you for feedback, it will be really easy for you to leave it.

Today was fairly uneventful. Work was the usual. I had a yummy lunch at qdoba. Yoga was good, although really hot. I spent the evening hangin with the girls. Thanks for the yummy food Audrey & Amy.

Leave some love on the new look, or anything else! :)

the day of mothers

Today was a good day! I had an awesome time at church. The people there are awesome. I felt so loved and energized after being there. We took mom to l'italia for lunch. I had a yummy piece of salmon.

After a nap, Jesse and I went out on the town. We started with a stop at Panera for green tea. I love that stuff. Next stop, the mall. We walked around for a little before deciding we needed to do something more active. So we went to the Bull Pen for a rousing game a minature golf. I won!! By this time we were hot and sweaty. We headed back to my house where we vegged for a little bit. Then I colored Jesse's hair "magenta", its a red color.

By this time, we were getting hungry. So we woke up Patty and drug her to O'Charlies for dinner. We had a wonderful time. Not ready for the evening to end, we stopped in Barnes & Noble and hung out for a little.

Bada Bing was pretty quiet since I was the only one here. But it was an excellent Sopranos episode. There are only 3 more left in this season.

from SOAR to van helsing

I started the day by working. Andy and I had to answer question at SOAR. Thats the weekend that the incoming first year class comes to campus and registers for classes. It was fairly uneventful. The highlight was when Jesse stopped by to tell me about banquet.

After a nap, Patty and I went out and about. Lunch at Dave's where once again i had the yummy tofu stirfry. Then lowes and home depot where i picked up paint samples. I'm trying to figure out what color the downstairs bathroom should be. Lynley suggested a mustard or brown color.

By this time I was ready for some starbucks. Yum. Of course the next stop was Michaels to see if Andy was working. He was, so we got to catch up on each others life. Congratulations to him and becca on their engagement.

Tonight was Anna's birthday party. It was a lot of fun. We played volleyball and ate yummy food. Anna has really cool friends and her family is sweet too! Thanks for inviting me.

By this time Patty and I were ready for a movie. So we went to see van helsing. What an action packed movie. It was non-stop. I really enjoyed it. The time flew by. The special effects were really good and seemed realistic.

Now its time to sleep since there is another day tomorrow. :)

killage of billage vol 2

I can't claim credit for the title, that must go to wheatberry (aka Dan). Today was a good day. Jeremy, Jeb, Ben and I went to lunch at Dave's. I had a really yummy tofu stirfry. The afternoon went quickly.

This evening I hung out with Cathy and John Lantz. They're both a lot of fun. We made a brief stop at Captain Tees to see Jason. But we left because it was mostly high schoolers. So we went to O'Charlies for some food. It was good to catch up with John and all the things he has been up to. I can't wait to hear him play guitar. After I dropped them off in Broadway, I picked up Bill and we saw his movie.

Kill Bill vol 2, is really good. I really like the way each chapter is filmed in a unique style. There were some surprises and humorous parts. Definately a must see movie. I may even have to buy the dvds. :)

funado

Tonight the gang came over for funado at my place. Lynley and Dan supplied lots of yummy food: salad, shrimp, and of course Dan's famous margaritas. Since Adam wasn't able to be here, I made Patty's famous bean dip. The rest of the gang was Lorendia, Jeb, Jeremy, and Patty. It was good to hang out again. We watch the Friends series finale. I thought it was pretty good. Thanks to everyone for coming over. It was nice to hang out together. I am continually overwhelmed by the awesome friends God has put into my life. God is good, all the time.

I had lunch at some Thai place by the mall. It was really yummy. I had some tofu dish with noodles. Thanks to Sam for taking me out! I definately have to try Thai food again.

Work is going well. I took my team out on Tuesday. It went well. I'm really excited about our potential. We have a lot to do and I will need to be really organized to hold us all together and make sure everything gets done. Did you know that more responsibility means more work? Maybe if I get my act together it can mean more pay too. :)

closer to fine

Thanks for the prayers and kind words. I knew my friends are awesome and you didn't let me down. :)

Tonight was MYF. It was a small group, but we had a good time. It is so rewarding to hang out with the youth. More adults should realize what kids have to offer. I always feel unconditionally accepted and loved. Hanging out with them boosted my spirits.

winds of change

I know this blog entry is going to seem abrupt after reading about my weekend. But here it goes. I am no longer
dating Alex. We enjoy each other's company and have a lot of fun together. However we are at different places
in the relationship world. Alex is enjoying where he is in life and isn't ready to be exclusive with one person.
I'm not necessarily looking for a permanent relationship, but when I find someone that I really like, I want to
know that we are exclusive. Since we are looking for different things, it seemed like we should stop
dating and just be friends. While I feel very comfortable with this decision, its also very hard for me to see
it end. I really enjoyed being with Alex and we had a lot in common. So if I seem sad when you see me, you will
understand why. Say a little prayer for me. I know everything will be ok and I have survived painful
experiences in the past and will have more in the future. I am strong and resilient, but that doesn'’t stop it
from hurting. I appreciate everyone's friendship know that with such great friends, I'’ll always be ok! You guys
ROCK!

weekend update

This weekend was definately interesting. Saturday Alex took me camping in Luray. It was a lot of fun. What cool friends! Of course it rained that night so we were damp, but we sat around the latern and talked late into the night. Sunday's weather was much better. It was nice to wake up with no rain and sunshine. After some yummy pancakes made by John, we packed up. When we got back to Alex's, we aired out the sleeping bags and setup the tent to dry. When he went to check on it an hour later, the tent was gone. It was a new tent and it was windy, so we began searching. Eventually we drove by some guys that looked like they might know something. So we asked them if they had seen a tent blow by. And they actually had! Amazing. It was in their backyard. YAY! Once we located the tent, it became a funny story. We ate lunch/dinner at the Parkhurst where I had yummy cauliflower cheese soup, and a garden burger. It was neat to hang out in Luray. What a quaint town.

Of course tonight was bada bing night. The gang came over and watched an excellent episode of Sopranos. Somehow each episode is better than the last. It's also more fun to watch them with the gang. I'll try not to miss it again.

Tomorrow will be busy. I need to work on phone bills, copier bills and preparing for my first team meeting. Hopefully I can be a good leader. I just need to figure out how to motivate them and help them work together as a team. All for one and one for all, kind of thing. I'm taking my team off campus on Tuesday afternoon. That should help things.

This week should be busy. Monday i start yoga! Yay, i can't wait. Tuesday is Patty's birthday. I've arranged a party, but unfortunately a lot of people are busy that night. Of course its their loss since we will have a blast. Wednesday I have youth group. Thursday is funado at my house. This will be lots of fun of course! Alex will get to meet more of my peeps. Should be a good time. Not sure what we'll do since scrubs isn't on. I'm thinking a movie.

So far the amethyst bedspread is winning. :) Should I use jade as an accent color?
